Old Wilmington Candlelight Tour

ANNUAL HOLIDAY BY CANDLELIGHT WALKING TOUR CELEBRATING 50 YEARS WITH RETURN OF BELOVED EVENT

When the days get shorter and the nights cast a chill over the Lower Cape Fear, we are drawn to the light and joy from the glow of the holiday season; A Christmas tree, the candles of a menorah, the festive lights illuminating downtown Wilmington, and the luminaries lighting the way to an historic home like lanterns in times gone by.

The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society is very pleased to announce the Annual Old Wilmington by Candlelight Walking Tour is back in full force this year. In observance of the 50th Anniversary of this signature event it will feature a Grand Gala kicking off the weekend’s festivities. The events will be held beginning Friday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. with the Gala Celebration. The walking tour will be self guided and homes, houses of worship, and other historic sites all within Downtown Wilmington will be open for tours Saturday, December 10 from 4 – 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 11 from 1- 5 p.m. The festivities will conclude with a Holiday Open House held at the Latimer House, 126 S. 3rd St., on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. It will feature refreshments and entertainment.

Tickets for the Walking Tour and Grand Gala will go on sale Monday, July 11 at 10 a.m. The cost for the Walking Tour is $50 apiece; the Grand Gala is $100 each, or $150 for both events. The Open House will be free and open to the public.
